Case Study
Nate Noye founded NEONFISH Media to tell compelling visual stories, not to drown in spreadsheets and scattered tools. After switching to Nuhra, he got 20 hours a week back to focus on creative work.
Honestly, it was the admin. I started NEONFISH to do creative work, to tell visual stories. But I was spending so much time bouncing between spreadsheets, a separate invoicing tool, Notion for contracts, email threads for client communication, Google Drivefor file delivery, and THEN needing to make sure all statuses are updated and communicated to the client. I was losing 20+ hours a week just keeping everything organized and that's if I didn't forget something. It felt like I was running an admin company that happened to make videos.
I needed one place for everything. I wanted something that I could dive fully into and grow and have it grow with me. I wanted something that all the tools could work together and update together.
I moved everything over in stages. First it was the projects in progress and clients, then the prices for what I charge for, then anything that was missing.
The pricing calculator is huge. Before Nuhra, I had a lot of anxiety around pricing. "Am I charging enough?" "Am I leaving money on the table?" The calculator takes my rates and builds quotes that I actually feel confident sending. Since switching, I've been winning higher-paying jobs consistently. And the proposal builder helped us land our largest client to date, which was a major milestone for NEONFISH. After that, I'd have to say the client portal and the asset delivery feature. My clients LOVE that they can see the status of their project, invoices, and download the assets all in one place.
They love it. The asset delivery feature is a big one. Instead of sending Google Drive folders, my clients get a clean, branded portal where they can review and download their deliverables. And paying invoices is so much easier now. Before, it was always e-transfer, which was a hassle for everyone and felt unprofessional. Now they just click a link and pay online. Multiple clients have told me how much smoother the whole experience feels.
That was an unexpected win. Nuhra lets me export all my expenses and receipts into a single folder. My accountant used to have to chase me for receipts and sort through a mess of files. Now I just hand him one clean export.
I run my entire production company through Nuhra. That's not an exaggeration. Literally everything. I got 20 hours a week back and I spend that time doing what I actually love. The admin doesn't consume me anymore. I'm a filmmaker again, not a full-time administrator. It took a lot of stress off knowing that when I put something in the system, it's in correctly and everything is up to date.
The lighting diagram builder. I never thought I'd use it, but it's been a huge help. I can now easily share the lighting diagram when I work with other contractors and get their feedback on the lighting setup. Same goes the script writing and storyboarding. I never thought I'd use it, but it's been a huge help. I can now easily share the script and storyboard when I work with clients and get their feedback before the day.
I thought this would just be a nice tool to use, like a step up from other tools but not too much. I was wrong, it's literally helped me grow my business. I started my business on my own so there's a lot of things I had to figure out on my own. I love that I can do things my way but it also has it's own opinionated way to do it which helped me see how I should be doing things. It genuinely felt like I had a coach and I've noticed a huge diference in my business.
